Megan and Frazer, three days above the Mediterranean in Le Pradet

Domaine Rocabella sits on three hectares of pine woodland above the Mediterranean, in Le Pradet, a coastal town just east of Toulon on the French Riviera. Megan and Frazer came here from London in May 2026 with just over forty of the people they love, for three days that began around a pool and ended with a brunch facing the sea.

They met on a night out in Los Angeles. He is British, she is British and American, and a good part of their guest list flew in from California. When they started looking for a venue, they wanted the water close by, and the kind of light she missed from the West Coast. Rocabella gave them both, on an estate usually spoken about for celebrations three times the size of theirs.

What follows is their story, and everything I took away from photographing a wedding here. The spaces and what they allow, the light through the day, the timings that matter, and what you will want to know if you are imagining your own celebration at Domaine Rocabella.

Domaine Rocabella is in Le Pradet, a coastal town in the Var, just east of Toulon on the French Riviera. The estate sits on three hectares of pine woodland above the Mediterranean, with the sea visible from almost every part of the property.
The closest international airports are Nice, about an hour and a half away by road, and Marseille, at roughly an hour. Toulon-Hyères is the nearest airport of all, and Toulon's train station is about fifteen minutes from the estate, which makes shuttles straightforward for guests arriving across several days.
The estate hosts up to around a hundred and fifty seated guests. There is accommodation on site across the property, which is what allows a wedding here to run over a full weekend rather than a single evening.
Yes, and it suits the estate better than you might expect. Megan and Frazer married here with just over forty guests, seated at a single horseshoe table on the lawn in front of the Temple, and the scale of the property never worked against them.
No, not in practice for most couples. French law only recognises a civil marriage performed at a mairie, and at least one of you must have lived in that commune for a minimum period beforehand. Most international couples handle the legal marriage at home and hold a symbolic ceremony in France, which is what Megan and Frazer did.
Yes. The estate stood in for the Crawley family's French villa in Downton Abbey: A New Era, released in 2022. The marble staircase seen in the film is in the main hall of the villa, and the gardens used in the production are the same ones weddings take place in.

Rocabella is the kind of place you understand better after three days than after three visits. Where the light lands at five, how long the walk down to La Corniche really takes, which corner works when the wind comes up. That is what I try to bring to a venue the second time, and what I try to learn fast the first.
