A Multicultural Wedding at Château Gassies near Bordeaux

A French and Venezuelan celebration in the heart of the Bordeaux wine country, in Latresne, Gironde

Some love stories seem to carry a whole world within them, and Anaïs and Francisco's is one of them. She is French, he is Venezuelan, and they met eight years ago in Miami, where they still live today, crossing paths in a bar the night before a date they had arranged through an app. When the time came to marry, they chose to celebrate in France, in the Bordeaux region, where Anaïs had spent her childhood holidays at her grandparents' house, and where she could share this part of her heritage with Francisco's family and friends travelling from across the world.

They held their wedding at Château Gassies, an eighteenth century estate perched on the hills of Latresne, just ten minutes from the heart of Bordeaux and overlooking the Garonne river. Built in 1775 and restored over four years before reopening in 2019, the château blends authentic old world French elegance with modern luxury, set within fourteen hectares of parkland with sweeping views over the city, the vineyards, and the river. It is the kind of wedding venue near Bordeaux that turns a single day into an entire weekend of shared experience, exactly what Anaïs and Francisco had in mind.

And a weekend it was. They imagined something generous and authentic, a gathering built around food, good wine, music, and celebration, with Italian gastronomy at its heart and a vibrant thread of Venezuelan culture woven through it all. Their inspirations were Italy, a shared love of vintage aesthetics, and above all the joy of bringing people together. From a welcome pizza party in the château courtyard to live Latin and samba music, a painter capturing the day on canvas, and a Hora Loca that set the dance floor alight, theirs was a multicultural wedding near Bordeaux that felt entirely, unmistakably their own.

As a destination wedding photographer in Bordeaux and across France, these are the celebrations I love most: deeply personal, full of meaning, and rooted in a real sense of place. From the welcome evening to the wedding day itself, and even a couple session we created together later in the year, theirs was a story I felt lucky to follow. If you are dreaming of a wedding like this one, I would love to hear your story.

Your Wedding Photographer in Bordeaux and Across France

Some weddings stay with you long after the last dance, and Anaïs and Francisco's was one of them. They brought together France, Venezuela, and the United States for a celebration that was generous, joyful, and deeply personal, rooted in family, heritage, and a shared love of food, music, and beauty. From a welcome pizza party in the courtyard to a candlelit dinner of truffle pasta, from three emotional first looks to a Hora Loca that lit up the night, theirs was a wedding that could only have been theirs, and Château Gassies, on its hilltop overlooking Bordeaux and the Garonne, gave it the perfect setting.

As a wedding photographer in Bordeaux and throughout South West France, these are the celebrations I am drawn to: multicultural, meaningful, and full of life. There is something extraordinary about this region, its châteaux, its light, its art de vivre, that makes it one of the most beautiful places in the country to marry. Whether you are dreaming of a château celebration in Gironde, a wedding elsewhere in Provence, or a venue somewhere among the most beautiful estates of the South of France, I would be honoured to tell your story with all the care, emotion, and attention to detail it deserves.

If Anaïs and Francisco's celebration spoke to you, I would love to hear about yours.
